Orlando Guardians vs. Charlotte Cobras

In their final leaue sanctioned contest of the 2009 season, the Cobras hosted the Orlando Guardians on Saturday, May 9th. The Orlando Guardians are the reigning Division II Champions in the NPSFL. The was the first meeting between the two teams.

 

The Cobras struck first and maintained a comfortable lead for most of the first half until Orlando scored on a tipped "hail mary" style pass with just two minutes left in the first half. Orlando game out strong in the 3rd quarter and looked to have all of the momentum. The Cobras surged in the 4th quarter to take a comfortable lead and held on to defeat Orlando 24-12.

 

The two teams enjoyed their weekend together and look forward to playing in the coming seasons. The Orlando Guardians were a classy hard nosed football team and coming away with a victory against them is something that the Cobras are very proud of.

 

The Cobras ended their regular season 3-1. Their final contest will be held on Saturday, May 30th in Charlotte. They will host the Washington DC Generals in their annual Hero Bowl. The proceeds from this game will be donated to CMPD Officer Mark Lester and his wife Anna who is courageously battling cancer.
